Unakka Kappa or Vaattu Kappa
Tapioca is a root extracted from the cassava plant also known as 'Kappa' or 'Maracheeni'. It's found in common in Kerala mainly during the summer season. Matured tapiocas collected from farms are cleaned and washed.Later they are partly boiled and dried in the sun so that it can be
stored for prolong period of item. At the off season, these dried tapioca or Unakka kappa is normally used for the
preparation of 'Kappa Puzhukku' or Tapioca with grounded coconut mixture and added flavor's.
The two main tapioca dishes popular in Kerala are Chenda kappa (plain boiled tapioca) and Kappa puzhkku (mashed tapioca with grounded coconut). Fish curry is highly appreciated go with Kappa.
